I love sporting a naked face several days a week, but I equally have an obsession with the contents of my makeup drawer. Next to pampering my skin, getting dolled up is one of my favorite girly-girl rituals! And while there is no better prep for flawless makeup than healthy skin, it is the finale that will take your makeup to the next level.
With all the many benefits that color can do for our face, most of us would agree that looking aged is not one of them. Our face starts to show our “happy lines” (expression lines) in our mid to late 20’s. As we age, it is common to shake up our skin-care routines, but when is the last time you reviewed your makeup ritual?
3 Tips to Get Your Flawless Finish
- Upgrade to a brand that hydrates and/or treats. Makeup meant for younger skin can leave you looking cakey and dull.
- If you can’t break free from using a powder to set your face, trade in your matte powder for one that is a sheer translucent or mineral based. Matte powders tend to settle in your facial expression lines, highlighting and exaggerating wrinkles. And when it comes to setting powder, ALWAYS avoid the eye area.
- For a radiant face and an even complexion, grab your favorite hydrating setting spray. Next spritz both your face and a beauty blender. And gently pat (don’t rub or smear) to lock your makeup in place.
